Below is a response from our ticket winner to Classical Revolution and Vocallective’s concert, “Time Stands Still”. Having met up with Edwin Huizinga after the show, I know that he’s busy performing but also cooking up some more shows in Toronto in the spring, so stay tuned!

I discovered BeMused through Classical Revolution and was immediately impressed with their mission of connecting audiences to performing arts. They had a contest to win 2 tickets to “Time Stands Still, an Intimate Evening of Chamber Music”. I entered the contest describing my experience performing Ottawa Valley Song by C. Stone and having ‘time stand still’. I was excited to find out I won the tickets.

Gallery 345 provided the perfect stage to experience the music up close and personal. I was immediately struck by the warm welcoming atmosphere. There were beverages and snacks and lots of socializing.

When it came to the performance I was not disappointed, the concert was appropriately titled. It featured works by a wide variety of composers. Highlights included “Dumky Trio”, Op. 90, VI. Lento Maestoso – Vivace by Dvoràk, Quintet for Piano and Strings, Op. 57, V. Finale by Shostakovich and Chanson perpétuelle, Op. 37 by Chausson.

Soprano Indre Viskontas, violinist Aniela Eddy and Edwin Huizinga, violist Keith Hamm, cellist Charles Akert and pianist Ian Scarfe are all first rate musicians. The intimacy of the venue allowed me to connect with the music.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and look forward to attending other concerts, meeting musicians and audience members!
